I am an Assistant Professor of Artificial Intelligence at the Higher Institute for Applied Sciences and Technology (HIAST), Damascus University, and the Syrian Private University (SPU). I hold a Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence with a focus on Natural Language Processing (NLP).
My teaching covers both foundational and advanced topics in Artificial Intelligence, including Deep Learning, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Generative AI, and Software Engineering Design.
My main research interests include Natural Language Processing (NLP), Machine Learning (ML), Deep Learning (DL), Semantic Representation, Large Language Models (LLMs), and the use of AI for real-world applications across diverse domains—including software engineering, telecommunications, cybersecurity, and healthcare. I actively supervise Master’s and Ph.D. theses in these areas.
My current research directions include semantic representation for long and complex sentences, multimodality, parameter-efficient tuning of LLMs, machine unlearning methods, and LLM-based steganography. I am also engaged in developing deep learning solutions for AI for Requirements Engineering (AI4RE) tasks such as automatic code generation, technical debt detection, and intelligent software development tools, as well as applications in telecommunications (e.g., modulation classification and blind source separation), cybersecurity (e.g., behavioral attack detection within SIEM systems), healthcare (e.g., biomedical signal analysis and diagnosis), and secure communication through steganography using large language models. .
I also serve as a reviewer for multiple Scopus-indexed journals in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Deep Learning, and Natural Language Processing. Alongside my academic activities, I provide consultancy services to several companies and organizations, offering expertise in AI-driven solutions, machine learning model development, and software system design to support their technological and business objectives.
